BEND WITH THE BREEZE

I am guilty, guilty as charged… I thought I was going to be a more frequent blogger. I have so many thoughts and experiences going on in my head all the time.

But it isn’t until I take off in Ally2 I reflect more thoroughly and trying to make sense of it all. There is just nothing like experiencing Mother Nature and her beauty. Being on the road is an incredible way to spend your time. To connect with yourself, your mind, your body..I think they call it “to get anchored, rooted” or something. IDK!🤷🏻

On this trip we set out with one plan in mind, only to do something completely different as we just followed our gut feelings. That’s what is so cool, when you are free you can do that, to bend with the breeze…if you only give yourself time to breathe.

We are “loop people”! Are you? We do everything we can to not go back and forth, in and out, but always do a loop if possible. It keeps everything new and exciting. Not like when you do an in and out hike, you know that all the downhills will be uphill on your way back… 🫣😰

But sometimes going back the same way creates a completely new experience as you see things from a new angle. It’s like a bonus trip! A new beauty.

Right now we are retracing some of a motorcycle trip we did lots of years ago. We didn’t get to do what we wanted because we had a little snaffu with the mc and I hurt my foot and we had to head home.

We have seen so much beauty these last few days, not like the ones you always hear about the “must see” surrounded by crowds of people. I have often tried to define what beauty is for me, and I have yet to find anything that takes my breath away as much as nature and everything in it. The quiet, peaceful rhythm, water making its way to where it always goes, changing of leaf colors and majestic canyons and mountains. The sunset shows and occasional sunrise splendor (the few times I am awake that early) just leaves me speechless and in awe.🫢

I hope you all take the opportunity to take a break from every day hassle and go out and see what nature has to offer. In a very extraordinary way, it can realign your perspective, take a deep breath and gaining your second wind…go find it and bend with the breeze.

Road Ramblings…

Today is day 18 of our incredible road trip. So much to process and in a way, it’s all kind of a blurr right now.

I’m trying to digest some of the thoughts and impressions I’ve had along the way. Stuff I want to remember as I’m back at it in the “other” world.

  1. Pictures just can’t make this kind of raw beauty justice. Not even with an iPhone.
  2. The feeling of being completely and utterly alone in the world as you drive. The saying “in the middle of nowhere” makes total sense now.
  3. Mother nature needs to be taken seriously. You do NOT underestimate her at any time. She doesn’t care who matters.
  4. Why do bears 🐻 always 💩 on the shoulder of the road?

Pioneer Woman? Maybe not ☺️😂

Years ago I thought I wanted to live like someone more close to nature, self sufficient and rely less on modern “luxuries”.

In a way I still do, but as we drive through the Canadian and Alaskan “wilderness” I realize (and I now laugh at myself) how naive I was.

Life up here must be tough. The seasons, weather, distances, lack of common stuff we take for granted, rarely much reception for communication, to just name some of the things I realize I wouldn’t be that excited to be without. It seems like so much of life just evolves around pure survival. I understand in the larger towns this might not be as accurate, but still…it takes a particular type of person to live here, and I salute you all that do. I have so much admiration.

So I hereby acknowledge, in public, I will never be a pioneer woman. I just don’t have the grit….(and I don’t like to see myself without some makeup)

AND OFF WE GO..

We are on day four of our Canada/Alaska adventure.

Hectic days before the day finally came. The feeling of leaving everything behind, get out of the traffic and just say goodbye to it all was pure relief.

Never done anything like this before. Crazy exciting. It’s like every mile lowers the stress level bit by bit.

Well, there can still be some type of stress at times, but it’s a different kind. Like when we had a “Blair Witch Project” experience when looking for a camp spot. 😳😳🫣🫥

We are only halfway up through BC and have ways to go, but oh my, the majestic mountains, wildlife, glaciers and scenery like out of a National Geographic magazine… I feel like I’m placed in a picture created by AI, totally unreal! And we are not even at the best part yet.

I think I’m going to call it my “social reset”, as I enjoy a homemade pizza🍕 after I washed my hair!! 🧖🏻‍♀️

Wild horses, toe socks and Earth Day…

So what do they all have in common or contribute to one’s life, you might wonder?

A couple of weeks into this new adventure, hoping to make another awesome chapter in my book of life, a few new experiences and even revelations has happened.

On our trip back home after picking up “Ally 2”, we spend some fantastic days on BLM land in Nevada. Not a soul, surrounded by the quiet of nature and the herds of wild horses. Seeing them wild and free, curious and playful was such a treat.

  1. Set your heart up and prepare the room for magic to enter.

Coming back from a hike amidst incredible rock formations, like right out of an old western movie, like the time has stood still. Again hardly any signs of humans. But you can’t enjoy a hike unless your feet are happy and comfortable. Thanks to my son, I’m obsessed with my toe socks and TOPO shoes.

  1. Set your body up for success and enough comfort to enjoy the world around you.

Today is EARTH Day according to the calendar. It made it so appropriate to put together this post, as living like everyday is earth day is my challenge.

  1. Set yourself up to be amazed and make yourself open to embrace the beautiful creation around you, EVERY DAY! There is always something.

I think I will be able to work myself closer and closer, how about you?

No words…

Here she is - Ally 2!

I'm writing my first “on the road” blog, sitting under our moonshade looking out over beautiful, snow capped mountains, warm and clear blue skies.

It really is almost surreal and the feeling of “pinch me, pinch me” is almost overwhelming.

This is day three since pick up day in Reno. It’s kind of weird, but I feel so connected to this vehicle (that’s kinda odd?) Sitting on BLM land in Nevada, not a soul around other than be beautiful wild horses! I am in heaven and connecting with Ally pony through them. Spiritual!

So far our AEONrv has showed to be above and beyond, and so worth waiting for.

NO REGRETS!

IT IS THE DAY BEFORE THE DAY!

The big rental car filled with the gear we’ve been carefully selected is packed and we are on our way. A 4:30 am departure!😴😴

Destination today - Susanville, CA hoping the snowy weather has passed and the passes are clear.

To say we are excited is an understatement. We have waited so long for this!

Aeon #56 alias “Ally 2” we are coming for you!
